We think it’s pretty obvious now that we love chicken wings … especially when they are dripping in sauce. Bird Restaurant in Shoreditch does exactly that, along with the original waffle burgers, sides, a selection of glazes and sauces for your wings and even salads. It is known to be one of the best restaurants to get your fix of chicken so we definitely needed to try it out.
No matter what part of London you live in, there’s a 99% chance you’ll walk past at least three different chicken ‘restaurants’ selling pretty much the same thing. But Bird is different. Their chicken is free range, their ingredients are fresh and the interior is cosy. All these points make such a difference, it’s no surprise it is one of the best places in town.
The interior was clean and modern but still had a cosy feeling to it. From the outside it looked very welcoming and we could hear some funky tunes that definitely made us want to come in. We barely sat down and just by looking at other peoples food we knew we were in for a treat.
We love our chicken wings spicy, as you may remember from our chicken wing recipe. So naturally we decided to go for the buffalo glaze with a blue cheese sauce. The perfect combo! We got 24 wings to share … as they arrived we thought we went a little overboard.
The wings came served in one big bowl, beautifully glazed in this vibrant orange spicy sauce.
This was exactly what we were looking for and we couldn’t be happier. The chicken wings were drenched in sauce, with that delicious spicy kick and crispy skin. The wings still kept all their moisture and all the pieces were very tender.
Along with our massiveee plate of wings we ordered some ‘Fresh cut fries’ which had a homemade look and taste to them. You can definitely tell the difference in the quality and freshness of food. With all that spicy sauce it was the perfect side to rest our mouths … but also to dip in more sauce !
Clearly we found everything delicious and we ate every single wing to the last bite. Things got super messy, but nobody is judging! Finally, 24 wings weren’t that many after all. Although, we definitely entered a food coma after that and it required quite some energy for us to get up and leave!
With all their different glazes and sauces we’ll definitely be back to try some more. We didn’t have even the smallest space left in our stomachs to try deserts but they sure did sound wonderful.. maybe next time! Bird is also famous for the waffle burger and that is something that we must try! Also, bonus points for whoever was in charge of the background music that day.
We hope you enjoy this post and that you’re now on your way to Bird. There will probably be more chicken wings review at some point so keep an eye out for that. Let us know what your favourite dish is and we’ll try review that too!
